What is personal brand design?

Is creating the logo and other corporate image development but inspired and representing a single person. It has as many variables as developing a logo for a business or product.

Changes that for a business its personality is built through the branding. While in a professional the personality already exists and is the major component at the time of generating the concept.

Does it matter what I do? I’m not into business

Not at all, because a personal brand must portray you, it should be though-out to fit nicely in the context of your life. Whether you are a socialite, and artist, a doctor, a patron, an entrepreneur, an artisan, a politician, etc.

Generally the personal brand mixes your personality with what you do or sell. If you are not into business then the logo should focus more on you and to fit in the scene where you move.

What about corporations named after people?

When we think about trade marks like Ferrari or Calvin Klein is easy to get them confused for personal brands, they were once personal brands, but now are trade marks that represent industries and corporations through the founder’s tradition and philosophy.

Personal brands apply to persons, the individual. Is their contribution to the market for their own promotion and marketing. Is the first step to take your name into a proper brand like those we referenced above.

Some would say a personal brand stops being personal when you start up a business, or when the original founder is no longer around the company. It’s really a matter of business culture and personal preferences.

How tailored can be my personal brand?

When we create business brands we are from the school that sees the logo as the face of the company and the branding like the suit. But as we saw above, this face is fabricated, upon formulated personality and communication tones.

While all our logo developments are made from scratch and tailored, is a good analogy to think in personal brand development like the job of a tailor, who doesn’t only take into account your measurements but your personality and style too.

All this without forgetting what is that the logo is selling. Seems more complex than a normal logo development for a business, but it isn’t, in fact, is complex and time consuming to formulate a personality and comms tone for a company. While these things are more than clear and tangible in a persona.

How is my personality portrayed in a logo?

Formulating a personal brand is interesting because you work backwards in what’s the usual process of conceptualization.

Having a living personality to work and create upon is comparable to taking a photo, compared to the process of sketching, tracing and painting a portrait that would be more like the process for a company.

Are you an extrovert that influences everyone with your cheerfulness? Then a minimalist technical logo is not the right pick. Are you a serious, reserved person in a highly competitive industry? then a dynamic and colorful logo would not represent you adequately.

And in between these extremes there’s infinite combinations of idiosyncrasies, cultures, ways of being and work, that the weird thing would be to end with a logo similar to someone’s else.

Can I participate in my personal branding development?

We are always open and eager to hear customer feedback. But in our experience, the clients for personal brand are those who take the opportunity and are more motivated to be on top of the details and concept in general. And that’s expected, and good.

We go beyond just hearing your feedback, we invite you to send us your sketches, signatures, doodles and any scrawl that you want us to take into account for your design.

Sometimes you can base the logo directly from those sources and save a considerable amount of time in conceptualization and design. It can’t get more personal than that.

In these cases is really a personal logo of self-sourced origin and our work is more geared to redrawing and polishing it to the extreme in the case of calligraphy, typography and signatures, and making it viable as a graphic asset (creating the source files).

Whats your tl;dr for personal brand development?

Any independent pro always has his or her own idiosyncrasies seeing themselves as a company. The idea of personal branding is to take this into a graphic space in the format of a logo.

Is the true, original and most primary graphic identity job that exists, is the magic that gave life to many brands that today we have forgotten that they were once just the names or last names of someone.
